Meat Science Laboratory
The Meat Science Laboratory is a state of the art, USDA inspected processing facility with full harvesting facilities, meat lockers and an interactive auditorium classroom connected to the meat lockers that allows instructors to use actual carcasses and demonstrate processing techniques in the classroom for instruction in meat science and food safety.
The U of A Meat Science facility is the only one of its kind at a University in the Southwest.
Classes taught at the Meat Science Complex include:
- ANS 102 Lab - Introduction to Animal Industry Laboratory
- ANS 320 - Food Safety
- ANS 380 - Meat Animal Composition
Meat Sales:
The University of Arizona Meat Science Lab offers various beef, lamb and pork products for sale to the general public through the Collegiate Cattle Growers Association. For available products, meat sale days, times and prices go to the CCGA Meats website at http://www.ccgameats.com/index.html.
Directions: This facility is just a short 4 mile drive from main campus. To reach the facility from the main campus, take Speedway Boulevard east to Campbell Avenue. Drive north on Campbell Avenue 3.5 miles to Roger Road. Turn left onto Roger and then take the first right turn into the Meat Science Complex.
