[Harry Ayer]
Dr. Ayer joined the teaching-research faculty at The University of Arizona in 1970. His early work focused on foreign and domestic development. In 1977 he joined the Economic Research Service of the U.S. Department of Agriculture, and then rejoined the Department of Agricultural and Resource Economics as an Extension Economist in 1984.

Dr. Ayer has received numerous awards, including Runner-up Best Journal Article in the American Journal of Agricultural Economics, the USDA Certificate of Merit, and Outstanding Extension Program in Agricultural Economics awarded by the Western Agricultural Economics Association. He served as President of the WAEA in 1995-96 and is a past Editor of CHOICES magazine. Dr. Ayer is the co-founding editor of Euro-CHOICES. His current research and educational programs focus on the economics of commodity programs.
