[Jimmye Hillman]
Dr. Hillman's research interests center on agricultural and trade policies, particularly in developed countries. His most significant work has involved nontariff trade barriers, which in agriculture far surpass in importance the traditional barriers to trade, such as tariffs. Dr. Hillman was chairman of the Department from 1961-1990. His 40+ year career has yielded numerous achievements, including Executive Director of the President's National Advisory Commission on Food and Fiber (1966-67), Visiting Research Fellow at Oxford University (1972-73), President of the AAEA (1970-71), and Brazilian Honorary Doctorate (1998). He was elected a Fellow of the AAEA in 1982.
