Dr. Lord is a former director of the Center for Natural Resource Policy Studies and Programs at the University of Wisconsin and of the Water Resources Research Center at The University of Arizona. He specializes in environmental and natural resource economics, institutional economics, and public policy analysis. He holds advanced degrees in agricultural economics, forestry, and a Ph.D. in natural resource economics from the University of Michigan. His experience includes research in the U.S. Forest Service and policy analysis for the Assistant Secretary of the Army for Civil Works. He has worked abroad for Resources for the Future (in Mexico) and the United Nations (in Afghanistan), U.S. AID (Bulgaria, Chile, Hungary, Romania, and Slovokia), and the World Bank (Tanzania). His current research projects include the analysis of alternative natural resource management institutions.
