November 14 Live Music Festival
Autumn foliage is approaching its seasonal
glory at Arboretum by mid-November, just in time for a Saturday when live
music from Arizona originals will fill the air! November 14 should be yet
another perfect Saturday for a day of song and melody around the trails and
in different gardens... a chance for visitors to enjoy a variety of singers,
songwriters and musicians. Popular artists returning to offer their
talent include the Close Enough String Band, which will open the day with
a 10:00 a.m. concert in the Picnic Area. Mesa recording artist Jim
Pipkin plays songs from
his CD "Rebel Souvenirs" at 11:00, offering another of his
unforgettable concerts near the Drover's Shed.
Bring
chairs and a picnic lunch, and plan to stay for the day. At noon Alesa
Gallian shares her powerful voice and eclectic songbook in the Picnic area.
Alesa's also celebraring the release of a new musican CD, which she'll have
available. The Mountain Rain trio plays at 1:00, Mark Fogelson at 2:00, The
Levno Duo at 3:00 and Russ Braman at 4:00.
Fans of "olde tyme Americana" music
will want to get here early for the 10:00 opening set played by members of
the Close Enough String Band. This crew usually closes the day with an afternoon
gig -- but this year Close Enough is the opening act at 10:00 a.m. on November
14. Don't miss their harmonies, fiddles - and even the haunting chance to
hear Bob Sandsteadt play the musical saw!
Our live music event at the Arboretum makes for a Saturday truly "both
acoustic and eclectic." November's live music festival is a singular
chance to stroll through our unique collections of desert plants and arid
ecosystems -- while also being treated to six hours of song and music from
Arizona musicians playing intimate sets in the demonstration garden, herb
garden, rose garden and other beautiful locations throughout the grounds.
