Sue Cullumber Photos
Exhibited October, 2007
Photographs
by East Valley artist Sue Cullumber attracted much acclaim during the Summer
of 2007: featured prominently on Kodak.com's website, anchoring a popular
August exhibit at the Mesa Museum For Youth, and enlarged in vivid color by
the East Valley Tribune in the weekend living section.
"My favorite subjects are
mostly those in nature -- I enjoy trying to find unique ways of photographing
animals, plants and the natural world. My approach is that everything can
be photographed; you just have to find the right view to shoot it," said
Cullumber, whose works were the subject of a solo exhibit during October in
the Visitor Center Gallery at Boyce Thompson Arboretum.
"I
have exhibited at several local galleries and art shows and am a regular contributor
to many online photography sites," said Cullumber. She's a member of
the Chandler Art Guild and Phoenix Art Space, and has galleries well worth
exploring on her website www.auniqueviewphotography.com
"I grew up in the Chicago area and
moved to Arizona in 1978 to attend college at ASU. After receiving my Bachelor's
degree in Anthropology, I returned and got a Master''s degree in Education.
In 1990, I started teaching math at a special education school and continue
to teach both math and science to jr. high and high school age students at
Howard Gray Education Center.
"I have always had a passion
for photography. Early on it was centered around taking pictures of my son,
but about five years ago when I got my first digital, and when he stopped
letting me take photos of him, my "artistic" side finally came out.
Since then, I have taken numerous classes in photography including: black
and white, landscape, macro and lighting techniques."
