The N SC Department offers the Bachelor of Science in Agriculture with a major in Nutritional Sciences. Two specializations (Dietetics and Nutrition) are offered under this major. The undergraduate major in Food Science was phased out in 1993.
N SC has a very strong undergraduate
Didactic Program in Dietetics (DPD) that is fully approved by the
Commission on Accreditation for Dietetics Education (CADE), the
accrediting agency of the American Dietetics Association
(ADA). The Dietetics specialization prepares students to
apply for Dietetic Internships to become Registered Dietitians (RD).
RD's work in governmental agencies, industry, and in health care facilities as administrative and clinical dietitians, food service managers, and
nutritional consultants.
The Director of the Didactic Program in Dietetics (DPD) is Wanda
Howell, PhD, RD, CNSD.
The Nutrition specialization prepares students for graduate and professional schools, for careers in the food and food supplement industries, and for technical positions in nutrition research. Since 1989,
29 students from N
SC programs have applied to dental and medical schools;
25 of these were accepted by medical schools at Arizona, Baylor, Chicago, Mayo Clinic, UC-Davis, and Wisconsin- Milwaukee.

eight years has been
approximately 88%.
