The real dirt: Salvador Parra in his mango orchard

Mr. Salvador Parra and his family have been pioneers of organic farming in Mexico. Here, Mr. Parra is standing in his mango orchard, "Partres Agricultores," in Guasave, Sonora, Mexico. The orchard was planted 27 years ago and has been certified as organic since 1988. The Parra family is currently the only family in Mexico to grow, harvest and pack organic mangoes (most other operations are jointly managed with larger distributors or packers.)
