Combating Desertification:
Connecting Science with Community Action co-sponsored by the BLM and the IALC

The symposium Combating Desertification: Connecting Science With Community Action, co-sponsored by the IALC and the Bureau of Land Management, was held in Tucson, Arizona from 12-16 May 1997. This very successful symposium was attended by approximately 200 people from more than 30 countries. The Proceedings of this symposium were published as a special issue of the Journal of Arid Environments, vol. 39, no. 2, June 1998. A report is available in the Sustainable Developments, vol. 4, no.1, 19 May 1997 issue, published by the International Institute for Sustainable Development.
