Geographic information systems and geostatistics in plant disease epidemiology and management

A Case Study in Methodology: Aspergillus flavus

In this case study, we provide step by step details about  how we have used geographic information systems and geostatistics to study Aspergillus flavus populations at the regional scale.  The details provided are specific to the software we have chosen to use, but the general approach can be applied using other GIS and geostatistical software.

Creating point maps of sample locations using ArcView GIS software
Using GeoEAS for surface interpolation
Linking GeoEAS output to shapefiles for ArcView displays
Using a DEM to display cotton field elevations and to develop a scatterplot of S strain incidence vs elevation
