Conidia: (on PCA) mature conidia typically 10-60 x 6-17 µm, no true beak, narrow to broad ovoid and ellipsoid, mostly smooth spore walls but can be punctulate, medium yellowish to reddish brown, 1-7 transepta 0-2 longisepta, in aggregates of branching chains comprised of 50-60 or more conidia.
Conidiophore: (on PCA) 15-65 x 5-6 µm, arise directly from agar surface, dilute tan, grow in close proximity to one another, apical secondary condiophore, short (5 x 5 µm).
Disease: Alternaria diseases of Crucifers: black spot (leaf, stem, or pod spots)
Host: Brassicaceous hosts, Artemisia sp., Thymus vularis L., Phaseolus coccineus L., species of Linum, Papaver, Phaseolus, and Scorzonera.
