Species: Alternaria infectoria Simmons
Original Reference: Simmons, E. G. 1994. Alternaria themes and variations (22-26). Mycotaxon 25:298-299.
Conidia: (on PCA) mature conidia typically 35-40 x 10 µm, long ovoid to ellipsoid, slightly rough ornamentation, greenish tan in color, 6-7 transepta, longisepta rare, found in a branching aggregate of 40-50 or more conidia.
Conidiophore: (on PCA) typically 125 x 3 µm, originate from agar surface or aerial hyphae, primary conidiophores simple but can become geniculated with 5-6 geniculation loci. Secondary conidiophores are typically 40-60 µm, geniculated with 3-4 loci.
