Species: Alternaria selini Simmons

Conidia: (on PCA) mature conidia typically 42-80 x 12-26 µm, non-beaked, ovoid to long-ovoid to obclavate when fully developed, can be ellipsoid as juveniles, smooth, medium yellow-tan, 5-10 transepta and 1-3 longisepta, generally solitary but can be in short chains of 2 rarely 3.
Conidiophore: (on PCA) short ca. 35-45 µm long, short secondary conidiophores may be produced.
Additional characters: conidia of A. selini are darker and have thicker septa than do conidia of A. petroselini. Also A. selini may produce secondary conidiophores unlike A. petroselini
Disease: Parsley crown decay
Host: Petroselinum crispum (Mill.) Nym.[parsley]
