CALS Federal Excess Property

Federal excess property (items that are excess to the needs of a particular Federal program or Federal agency) can be made available to CALS units when the property will be used to further programs in the Agricultural Experiment Station or Cooperative Extension. Recipients do not pay for the property (USDA always retains title), but they do pay the costs associated with transporting the property to the University and any costs of necessary renovation or upgrading. Through this program, College units have obtained items such as construction and farm equipment, motor vehicles, buildings, furniture, fencing materials, paint, sleeping bags, tools, and laboratory supplies. All acquisition, transfer, and disposal of federal excess property must be coordinated through the college Federal Excess Property Coordinator.
