COLLEGE OF AGRICULTURE AND LIFE SCIENCES In assessing the effectiveness of the Classified Staff Training Policy in the College of Agriculture and Life Sciences (CALS), the Staff Development Team identified the need for additional funding beyond the $50 available from individual units under the basic training policy. Funding was clearly a barrier to career development for some staff. Training in specialized areas costs much more than $50 but can greatly enhance a person's performance. Such job-related development activities will also benefit the unit and college. In order to expand the amount of funding available to classified staff for career development, the team developed the Career Development Support Program, which was approved by CALS Executive Council.
