CALS Vacancy Savings

Vacancy Savings: Savings from vacant staff lines funded with budgeted dollars (accounts 12xxxx and 13xxxx) are retained by the department. Savings from vacant appointed personnel lines funded with budgeted dollars revert to the Executive Council.

Salary Savings -- Classified Staff Positions
All units in CALS will retain salary savings, both temporary and permanent, from permanently funded vacant classified staff positions. Vacancies in temporary-commitment-funded staff positions will continue to revert to the College.

On a temporary basis, classified staff vacancy savings may be reallocated to other uses consistent with University and College policies and procedures. Vacancy savings are subject to the CALS Carryover Policy.

On a permanent basis, savings from classified staff vacancies may be reallocated to new or existing classified staff positions in any manner consistent with University and College policies and procedures. Reallocation of funds to non-staff expenditure categories on a permanent basis will require College-level approval.

Salary savings, both permanent and temporary, from vacant appointed personnel positions funded on budgeted dollars (1xxxxx accounts) revert to the College.
