ABE Mission

The primary mission of the Department is to serve the College, University and State through dynamic research, education and extension programs. The focus will be on engineering for biological systems and water resources as well as related environmental issues and systems management for agricultural systems and enterprises. A particular mission is to provide residents of Arizona with an opportunity to obtain an accredited engineering degree in the field of Biosystems Engineering. The Department provides the only such program in the State of Arizona. Currently, the Department Extension program is focused on agricultural water resources engineering, including water quality, with additional emphasis on agricultural systems management and safety.

Program Educational Objectives

  3. Enrolled in an advanced engineering or medical degree program and are successful in those.

Note: This set of revised objectives was developed at a meeting of the ABE advisory council on November 14, 2002, reviewed by the faculty during the faculty retreat on January 6, 2003 and approved by the faculty with minor revisions.
