Pre-med Track: Advising

In an effort to produce well-prepared individuals for medical school, BE pre-med advisors will carefully monitor and advise pre-med students in the following aspects:

  1. Exposure to broad science and engineering areas. Development of character, integrity, and leadership.
  2. Meetings with BE graduates who are currently in medical fields.
  3. Attaining a high cumulative grade point average (GPA), particularly in the sciences and mathematics.
  4. Preparation for the Medical College Admissions Test (MCAT).
  5. Interview preparation for the evaluation by the Pre-Health Professions Committee, conducted during the second semester of the junior year.
  6. Letters of recommendation from research supervisors and faculty.
  7. Clinical experience gained through working or volunteering at a hospital, clinic, or other health care facility.
  8. Community service and other extracurricular activities.
