Why Biosystems Engineering?
Where engineering is brought to life

Biosystems Engineering (BE) combines the biological, physical, and engineering sciences with mathematics to address biological and agricultural applications.

In a recent survey of universities nationwide the average starting salaries of biosystems engineering graduates were:

  • B.S. ($ 43,000)
  • M.S. ($ 49,750)
  • Ph.D. ($ 58,500)
(Source: Survey of U.S. ABE Department Heads, Fall 2004)

A number of recent graduates from BE at the University of Arizona currently work as engineers, consultants, and managers at major engineering and consulting companies and government agencies such as CH2M HILL, Case-New Holland, Caterpillar, Ratheyon Missle Systems, USDA-Natural Resources Conservation Service, Pima-Maricopa-Salt River Indian Community, SEBRA and Davids Engineering. Several have formed their own companies including: Davey-Cairo Engineering, Bosque Engineering and Zelen Environmental.
