Biography

Claiming to be an an “Oz from Az”, Lisa Lauxman is originally from Kansas. She grew up on a dairy farm near Abilene, KS in Dickinson County. Her fate has been to wear “green and white” nearly all her life as she attended Chapman High School who are known as the “Irish” and she’s been in 4-H since 1965. Her ties to Wildcats comes from attending two Wildcat institutions, Kansas State University, Manhattan, KS for her bachelor’s degree in Home Economics Extension ( 1978) and the University of Arizona where both a Master’s ( 2002) and Doctorate were received in Educational Psychology. Lisa also has a Master’s in Business Administration ( 1989) from Emporia State University.

Lisa truly bleeds “green” as she claims she and her brothers owe their existence to 4-H since mom and dad met at 4-H camp! She’s worked in two different states since 1979, Arizona and Kansas, in two different counties ( Pima and Lyon) with the 4-H Youth Development Program. Presently she serves as the Acting Assistant Director, 4-H Youth Development, Arizona Cooperative Extension . Lisa joined the Arizona Cooperative Extension in 1991.

Her Ph.D. in Educational Psychology with a minor in Psychology [Program Evaluation Research Methodology], was received in 2002. The dissertation topic: “To Belong or Not To Belong: The Differences Between Youth Who Are Enrolled and Who Dropped out of A Youth Development Program” explored youth between 5th to 8th grade comparing groups who stayed in 4-H and those who dropped out. . Her areas of expertise include: Youth and Adult Leadership, Volunteer Management, Evaluation and Accountability, Citizenship/Civic Education/Ethical Leadership, Faculty and Staff Professional Development.
