Program endowments can support experiences that complement the academic experience and are not covered by the general operating budget.
While the College has priority areas for which we seek endowed support, program and project funds allow donors the greatest latitude and creativity in leaving a legacy, and thus we welcome your ideas.
A popular program that strengthens faculty teaching skills in CALS continues to thrive even through tough budgetary times, thanks to an endowment made by alumnus Gilbert G. Aguirre '59.
The Aguirre endowment funds the Bart Cardon Endowed Faculty Development Program, which manages faculty teaching workshops, development and recognition activities. The endowment honors Cardon, dean of CALS from 1980-84.
The Faculty Development Program provides workshops for new faculty that emphasize the importance of teaching and advising and explain university resources available for improving teaching skills.
Better teaching and advising lead to better learning experiences for students. Thanks to the Aguirre endowment, we can continue to refine and enhance those experiences.
