About the Artist:
Mary Schaefer is recognized by her love of color and sunlight that dominates her oil paintings. The pureness of it lends a radiance and luminosity where sunlight plays; deep shadows tend to strengthen and enhance the light that washes upon the gardens. Her strong affinity for color and a passion for flowers leads her to paint gardens that move on emotionally through intimate landscapes.

Mary’s figurative paintings are meant to involve the viewer with essence of the person. Mystery often surrounds her subject through body language depicted only by profile or showing the figure moving away from you. Color and illusiveness create a sense of sensuality, fascination and curiosity.

Mary grew up in Tucson, is a graduate of the University of Arizona and a former elementary school teacher. Her childhood love for music, dance and sports remains evident in the rhythm and fluidity of her paintings. Much of her desire to paint came from many years of adventurous travel to remote areas of the world with her husband, Art, a mining engineer. Her work is collected in the corporate world as well as in private collections internationally and in the governor’s mansion in Texas. Many of her paintings are published and distributed world wide.
