Earth Day Celebration 2002

The University of Arizona celebrated Earth Day on the UA Mall on April 22, 2002.

As part of the festivities, the Campus Arboretum dedicated a Neem tree (Azadirachtia indica) The Neem tree is native to the Indian subcontinent and is well known for its medicinal, insecticidal, and curative properties.

The tree is a gift from alumnus Suni Bal, a Tucson resident. Mr. Bal, originally from India, has donated this tree to help expand the University's tree collection.
