Distinguishing Characteristics: This small deciduous tree grows to heights of about 10 to 20 feet. It is usually multi-trunked. The leaves are single, heart shaped and dark green in color. The uniqueness of this tree lies in its gorgeous reddish-pink to purple flowers that form in clusters along the entire branches and trunk. This cauliflory formation makes this tree a striking attraction during its blooming period in the spring.
