The awards listed below are available to students in the College of Agriculture and Life Sciences (CALS). Announcements of nomination deadlines and information on the selection process are sent to each department and school in the College of Agriculture by David Cox, Associate Dean for Academic Programs. Information is also available in the Office of Academic Programs, Forbes 211.

NACTA TEACHING AWARD OF MERIT

  • Sponsored by National Association of Colleges and Teachers of Agriculture
  • Recognizes excellence in college teaching in an agricultural discipline
  • One professor and one graduate teaching assistant at each college or university
  • Certificate presented annually at CALS Honors Convocation

OUTSTANDING GRADUATING SENIOR AWARDS

  • Clock to each college recipient (sponsored by UA Foundation)
  • Clocks presented at fall and spring CALS commencement receptions
  • Plaque to each departmental winner (one per department/school)
  • Plaques presented at dean's luncheon prior to fall and spring commencements

OUTSTANDING GRADUATE TEACHING ASSISTANT AWARDS

  • Award (type varies) to one college recipient (sponsored by UA Foundation)
  • Award presented annually at a luncheon during spring semester

  • Plaques presented at dean's luncheon in the spring

AWARDS AVAILABLE TO STUDENTS IN ANY COLLEGE
AT THE UNIVERSITY OF ARIZONA

The Graduate and Professional Student Council at The University of Arizona sponsors numerous awards for graduate students. Their awards program also offers an opportunity for students to honor supportive faculty, staff and administrators. Winners receive plaques and a free meal at an awards banquet in the Spring. In 1999, the Graduate Advisor of the Year also received $5000, donated by the Graduate College.
