ELOY Aug 28, 2005 COTTON PLANTING DATE ADVISORY NOTE : An advisory for Eloy is not available due to problems with the station site. This station has been damaged by cattle numerous times in recent months. The resulting costs of labor, travel, repairs and replacement sensors have made this station too expensive to maintain. The site has degraded to the point where we are no longer able to reliably collect accurate data. AZMET is presently looking for a new site. If you can provide a new location for the station, please email us at: azmet@ag.arizona.edu WEATHER UPDATE -------------------------------- High pressure will dominate AZ weather for much of the week. Expect sunny and dry conditions through mid-week with very hot temperatures. High pressure will weaken and shift eastward during the last half of the week, bringing slightly cooler temperatures, an increase in humidity and a chance for widely scattered thunder- storms in higher elevation areas. Growers considering top crops due to delayed planting dates and/or severe heat stress are encouraged to review the document on boll maturity dates located on the AZMET website at http://ag.arizona.edu/azmet/cotton.htm This will be the final advisory for the 2005 cotton season. AZMET will continue to provide heat stress advisories and general weather information on its website. Have a safe and profitable harvest season !
