Job Summary: This position is responsible for ensuring the financial integrity of the Boyce Thompson Arboretum ( located in Superior, Arizona) under the tripartite agreement with the University of Arizona, the Arizona State Parks Board and the Boyce Thompson Southwestern Arboretum, Inc.

The position is located at the Boyce Thompson Southwestern Arboretum in Superior, Arizona.
Duties and Responsibilities
* Prepares financial and administrative reports, analyzes and interprets statistics, financial data, and management planning data for predicting resource needs and developing long range plans for department and related cooperator accounts.
* Manages and controls expenditures in accordance with budgeted amounts, initiates and approves purchase orders and processes invoices for payment.
* Controls and manages proper accounting and records of operational and special budgets.
* Designs and implements new procedures or computer systems; manages cost control practices and cash flow.
* Oversees and manages revenue sources including retail center income, membership, and donations, including daily deposit reconciliation.
* Performs financial statement and report reconciliation.
* Prepares major operational and special budgets; coordinates preparation of budgets for reporting units.
* Coordinates and participates in internal and external audits; prepares audit work papers.
* Controls, coordinates and advises on personnel matters, such as preparing personnel forms for payroll, classification, recruiting and new hire actions, interviewing and selecting new staff, employee grievances, and ensuring compliance with applicable policies such as affirmative action.
* Makes recommendations regarding hiring, evaluation, promotion and termination of employees.
* Reviews and approves payroll.
* Advises staff on financial, technical and operational matters, instructs and orients new members of staff, faculty or administration.
* May represent department at meetings or conferences.
* Interprets, implements, develops and/or recommends changes to rules, regulations, policies and procedures set forth by the University or outside governing agencies.
* Supervision of office staff.
* Provides administrative support to director.
* Maintains occasional contact with visitors and more frequently with members.
* Participates in weekly manager meetings to review schedules, plan events, report on status of projects, and address any items needing immediate attention. Arizona Board of Regents Minimum Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Business Administration or related field AND three years of related budgeting and accounting experience; OR, Seven years of progressively responsible budgeting and accounting experience; OR, Any equivalent combination of experience, training and/or education. Additional Minimum Qualifications
* Knowledge of management and supervision practices and techniques.
* Knowledge of accounting and budgetary theories, principles and practices.
* Skill in applying accounting and financial management practices and principles. Preferred Qualifications
* Knowledge of state and federal laws and regulations pertaining to departmental budgets, non-profits, and accounting practices.
* Skill in use of accounting systems such as UAccess Financials, UAccess Analytics, Peachtree Accounting and the Microsoft Office Professional Package.
* Proven leadership and management abilities.
