Preston Cox and Tammy Knight
Photography
Exhibited March
2013
Horticultural Technician Tammy Knight and Nursery Professional Preston Cox each have a separate but equal knack for having cameras at their sides in the right places at the right time. Maybe it comes from an intuitive gift, a keen eye, a little luck, or the opportunities that come from 2000 hours of on-the-job contact time on the Arboretum grounds each year.
Their photographs collectively celebrate over two decades of summer mornings, sodden winter Januaries, and late spring snows.
Rare blooms, animal interlopers, and the volatile textures of rhyolite that shoulder into nearly every scene at the Arboretum have fueled their motivations and filled the frames of their compositions.

These images reflect more than the seasonal, daily-even hourly-nuances of personality that the Arboretum presents to all of us; they illustrate the passion-the verve-that both Preston and Tammy possess in pouncing unflinchingly on these opportunities at the moment they present themselves.

These photographs speak for themselves, and are shown framed and matted, in the Visitor Center Gallery through March.
