The calpain family of proteases consists of 3 well-characterized proteins, µ-calpain, m-calpain and calpastatin, and approximately 10 other related proteins that have only been found as cDNA's. These molecules have been found in organisms from Drosophila to mammals. This website contains information to assist calpain researchers by providing links to useful reagents, sequence information, other calpain related websites, tips on storage and handling of µ- and m-calpain and calpastatin and information about calpain conferences. 2007 FASEB Conference Ribbon Structure of Human m-Calpain For additional information on the three dimensional structure of m-calpain see Hosfield, C.M., Elce, J.S., Davies, P.L., and Jia, Z.
