LIFESAVING TIPS FOR NEW FACULTY MEMBERS

1. Keep a file of all accomplishments (for APROL and P&T/C dossier).  Begin early. 

2. Establish priorities and do them well. 

3. Distinguish between activity and productivity. 

4. Learn good management skills (science, budget, personnel). 

5. Network with others on campus and off. 

6. Maintain your position description (key document in evaluations).  If responsibilities change work with unit head to update. 

7. Remember that you are not alone (we have all been there).
