Quick Guide to Pine

In Windows 95/98/2000/XP:

1. Click the “START” button on the lower left corner of the screen

2. Click on “RUN” in the Start Menu you will see this:

3. Type in “telnet ag.arizona.edu” and press Enter on the keyboard

4. This will bring up a window:

5. Enter your “username” (e.g. if john@ag.arizona.edu , enter john)

6. Press Enter on the Keyboard

7. Enter your password

8. Press Enter on the keyboard

9. Then the command prompt screen will come up:

10.) Type “pine”

11.) Press Enter on the keyboard

12.) Then pine will open up:

Once in Pine you can do many things, the most common:

· Check e-mail

· Send email

Use arrow keys and the commands On-Screen to navigate through Pine.

Also there is a WebPine application you can use which will do these same things without having to do a couple preliminary steps. That page can be found here:
