Creating Imagemaps

What is an Imagemap?

Imagemaps allow pictures to be as interactive as a paragraph of HTML. The viewer is refered to different documents, depending on where in the picture he selects.  For example, try clicking on various parts of the picture below to see where it takes you:

worldmap.jpg (18362 bytes)

How do you create Imagemaps?

Imagemaps are surprisingly easy to create. The imagemap above was created using a program called Mapedit, which helps you create the coordinates for your map and input the URL where the user should be directed.   This is a small program that does not require any effort to learn how to use so you will be making imagemaps in no time!
