| Natural Ventilation for Mexican Greenhouses:
Empirical Modeling Using Tracer Gases Technique Pedro Romero, MS Student, Agricultural and Biosystems Engineering Many zones of Mexico have warm climates whose temperatures allow growers to apply natural ventilation, a passive technique to cool greenhouse air without energy consumption. An important aspect of this method is to understand its performance according to the external and internal environmental conditions. Tracer gas techniques were used in one Mexican greenhouse to obtain empirical models in order to relate ventilation rates – air volume that is being exchanged in a period- with respect to measurable variables, such as air temperature, wind speed, wind direction, solar radiation, among others. Part of US-Mexico TIES program for international collaboration. Cooperators: Dr. Irineo Lopez Cruz, Chapingo University, and Dr. Gene Giacomelli In Progress 2004 – 2005 |
