Improving Plant Growth and Quality with Nutritional Additives in Hydroponics

Industry supporter:  Mr. Steve Schuchardt (Hydromax/Ironite Corp)

Dr. Kee-Song Kim, Agricultural and Biosystems Engineering and Dr. Merle Jensen, Plant Sciences

Greenhouse food crops, including tomato, lettuce, and pepper have been grown in a CEAC-University of Arizona enhanced research greenhouse facility.  An addition of Hydromax in a standard hydroponic nutrient solution is being tested compared to the standard hydroponics.  Results will be compared with various aspects of plant physiology, growth and development.  Harvested produce quality will be also evaluated.  Through evaluation of various aspects, the project intends to obtain general understanding on plant responses to Hydromax in hydroponics.
