National University (1) Monitoring Short-term Plant Responses (Stomatal Resistance, Leaf Temperature, and Transpiration Rate) of Tomato Plant under Various Environment Conditions for the Development of Transpiration Model for Greenhouse Tomatoes Leading to Irrigation Control Strategies for Semi-Arid Climates. (US-Korea collaboration) Dr. Jung-Eek Son, visiting scholar, Plant Environment Control Lab. of Seoul National University Stomatal resistance and transpiration rate, as well as leaf temperature were monitored on tomato plants grown at both high and low VPD conditions, and at high and low EC nutrient solution. Prediction of transpiration and leaf temperature using measured data will be completed. (2) CFD Modeling of Pad and Fan Cooled Greenhouse -Dr. Sang-Woon Nam Associate Professor, Department of Agricultural Engineering, Chungnam National University, Korea. Completed 2004 (a) Develop 2-D CFD simulation model for the fan and pad system, and combine with that of the fog system model developed by Dr. Kim. Completed 2004 Dr. KeeSung Kim, Seoul National University, Dept. of Agricultural Engineering, Lab. of Environment Control and Agricultural Structures. In progress 2005 (b) Develop 3-D CFD simulation for greenhouse cooling with high-pressure fog system |
