Controlled Environment Agriculture Student Association (CEASA)

CEASA is a group of undergraduate and graduate students interested in hydroponics and controlled environment agriculture. Members are from many majors, some not even in the sciences. All students are welcome.
We have the use of half of a research greenhouse to experiment with different systems and grow crops for sale at the local farmer’s market. Any money generated is used to reinvest in our systems and used to attend short courses or go on field trips of commercial greenhouses, etc.

Currently, we have one aeroponic unit and three ebb and flood units running. We grow a variety of leaf lettuces and herbs.  We are working on creating a second aeroponic unit.

We sell our club produce, and produce from the teaching greenhouse at the Tucson Farmer’s Market located at St. Phillip’s Plaza on the southeast corner of Campbell and River on Sunday mornings. Winters market hours are from 9am-1pm. Summer hours are from 8am-12 noon. We begin selling produce in October and continue until about the first week in June. This year we are selling regular size tomatoes, cherry tomatoes, orange bell peppers, cucumbers, and lettuce.

The club typically meets on Friday evenings at 6pm at Auld Dubliners on University Blvd. If you’d like to get involved, please contact the club president, Colin Clark.
