Activities

1. List what you consider to be the primary job duties or assignments at this time (List in order of priority):


Design, construct, operate, maintain, upgrade, & troubleshoot,
    1) Controlled Environment Plant Production Systems [greenhouses, growth chambers]
    2) Data acquisition and control systems
    3) Nutrient Delivery Systems [hydroponic, soilless culture] utilized for research, teaching and/or demonstration.

2. Describe contributions, achievements or improvements made by the employee during the past appraisal period:

    Allen Rd Greenhouse:
    Achieved control based on VPD in real-time
    Allen Rd:
    Upgraded DAQ system for improved performance of sensors
    RRGH:
    Data acquisition and control of roof partly based on black body sensors, with wind (safety) override
    RRGH:
    Upgrade of system to include control of fog, dual hydroponic systems, & new equipment (ongoing)
    Polytex Greenhouses:
    install and make operational all sensors and control equipment, install commercial DAS and control system, design, construct, install and integrate irrigation system with other greenhouse equipment.
    Aeroponic Greenhouses:
    - Installed & operated data acquisition for NAB hydroponic ginger project
    - Installed controls and emergency backup, sensors, and DAS for Aeroponic Nettles Project
    Food Safety Growth Chamber:
    - operated/maintained/upgraded during FDA study
    - coordination/technical support for Basil research
    Hydroponic Tomato Greenhouses:
    - upgraded fertigator control system
    - daily maintenance/repair of fertigator
    South Pole Food Growth Chamber:
    design of HVAC (air handling and heat exchanger plumbing), hydroponics,DAS, electrical, water cooling systems. Installation of sensors and DAS interface.
    Instructed numerous grads & undergrads on datalogger operation
    Graduate and undergraduate technical support
