February CEAC Volunteer Meeting
Open to the General Public
January has come and gone, and hopefully the COLD with it! Our February monthly Controlled Environment Agriculture Center Volunteer meeting is coming up this Saturday and I hope you can come.
WHEN/WHERE: Saturday, 2/9/13, 11:30am for social & 12 noon for the meeting.
Meet at the CEAC classroom, 1951 E. Roger Rd, Tucson, AZ 85719.
PROGRAM: Growing & Selling for the local market: Myles Lewis (Arizona Vegetable Company), Larry Jarrett (Sunshine Farms) and Tom Hanson (Hilltop Hydroponics) will all be here to tell us about their businesses: how they started, what they grow/where they get their produce, where they are selling and how they are marketing. This should be a fascinating discussion about the local/urban produce scene and, even if you don’t plan to grow or sell produce yourself, I know it will be interesting to hear how others are navigating the local Farmer’s Markets.
OTHER ITEMS:
Information about greenhouse hydroponics.
Tours of CEAC greenhouses.
Information about the upcoming annual April 7-12 2013 CEAC Short Course.
