SELECTING OFFICERS

To be able to select good officers, a thorough knowledge of the qualifications and duties of each officer must be known. The advisor or some of the officers should discuss these qualifications and duties with the membership of the organizations in advance of the election. If this cannot be done at a regular meeting, then class time may be used for this purpose. This gives the members an opportunity to make some careful observations and do some thinking as to who will make the best officers. Some of the general qualifications to be considered are implied in the following questions:

  1. Has the candidate participated regularly and actively in the organization?
  2. Does the candidate have enthusiasm for the organization?
  3. Does the candidate have high moral standards?
  4. Is the candidate respected?
  5. Is the candidate a good student?
  6. Does the candidate get along well with others?
  7. Is the candidate a willing worker?
  8. Is the candidate willing to work hard?
  9. Does the candidate make a good appearance?
  10. Is the candidate prompt?
  11. Is the candidate a good speaker?
  12. Does the candidate write well?
  13. Is the candidate interested in being an officer?
  14. Does the candidate have the necessary time to devote to the organization?
