UNUSUAL INTRODUCTION

OBJECTIVE: To offer a different way for an introduction of a trainer or speaker.

PROCEDURE: Before the program or session begins, select four-five participants and provide each with an item or two of background information on the trainer or speaker. The introducer then begins the program by suggesting that the speaker or trainer is probably so well-known that everyone in the audience knows something about his/her background and credentials. The introducer asks, "Tell me, what do you folks know about (speaker’s name)?" Then each of the four-five pre-selected people "casually", and without fanfare, states the item or two he or she was given earlier. (This should be done without notes.)

MATERIALS REQUIRED: Four-five index cards on which is written something about the speaker’s background.

APPROXIMATE TIME REQUIRED: Three-four minutes.

SOURCE: Unknown.
