Advanced Applied Plant Ecology (RNR 555) is designed to present and discuss principles of plant ecology, with emphasis on applied ecology of terrestrial systems. Specifically, we will review and discuss the following topics: interactions between organisms, the community concept, sampling within plant communities, quantifying community structure, ordination, classification, equitability measures, dominance/diversity relationships, and vegetation dynamics.
The course is taught during the spring of odd-numbered years by Guy R. McPherson. Pre-requisites include a junior- or senior-level course in ecology and knowledge of basic statistics.
