• Software 

We will use JMP Statistical Software, from The SAS Institute.

You'll need to purchase a 6-month ($30) license for JMP here or through the campus-wide site license held by the University of Arizona (also $30); see Gale in the basement of the Student Union. 

The software comes with an Introductory Guide and a few other manuals and that is all you will need.

    Author Dan Schafer maintains a web page with updates and other information relevant to The Sleuth



• Grades
    Based on weekly assignments (~30 pts each) involving analysis of real data sets, a mid-term take-home project involving analysis and write-up of datasets provided by the instructor (200 pts), a final project (300 pts) involving analysis and write-up of a data set provided by the student, and review and critique of another's final project (100 pts). 


• Prerequisites
    One course in statistics, background and interest in ecology, some computer savvy (or lots of interest), and graduate standing.
