Welcome to UA Horticulture Club

The UA Horticulture Club is based in the Department of Plant Sciences and operates under the advisement of Dr. Tanya Quist

Throughout the school year, we meet at the greenhouse to propagate and care for our plants. Club members learn various propagation techniques as well as the basics of plant care and greenhouse maintenance. Periodically, we hold plant sales on the UA mall. These fundraiser help us purchase more propagation and greenhouse supplies.

Other club events include guest speakers, field trips, and campus beautification projects.

We Can't Live Without Plants

Did you know...?

  • The shade created by plants can reduce energy use of buildings and lower utility costs.
  • Evaporation of water from grass and other plants cools daytime temperatures.
  • Plants supply oxygen and absorb carbon dioxide, benefiting the air we breathe.
  • Plants reduce noise pollution.
  • Trees and shrubs provide habitat for animals.
  • Trees reduce storm water run-off and erosion.
  • Plants beautify our surroundings and can increase property values.
