*From AZMET station

The following table shows monthly average maximum, minimum and mean temperatures and rainfall for four sites in the county along with heat units (HU) for Willcox and Sunsites and evapotranspiration (Eto) data for Bonita. The rainfall data shows that most of the county receives about half of the year=s moisture in the monsoon season ( July, August and September) and 17 to 37 percent of the rainfall during the winter rains (December through March). Evapotranspiration (Eto) is shown to be 71.2 inches of water at Bonita, that correlates well with an estimated water evaporation for the county of 67 inches per year. Heat units (HU) are related to hours of time within specified maximum and minimum threshold temperatures. A plant needs a certain number of heat units to germinate and grow.
