Salvaging
Native Plants
Will you be developing some land in Arizona?
Whether you are clearing one acre or more, there may be protected and unique desert plants
on your property. These plants are valuable and you could save money by salvaging them and
holding them over until you are ready to reintroduce the plants back into the landscape.
Not only will you be saving money on the purchase of plants, but you will be enhancing the
environment of your development, making it aesthetically pleasing to new owners and
neighbors.
After complying with the Arizona Department of Agriculture requirements
of filing Intent to Clear forms and you choose to
salvage plants, you have several options:
 | Hire a professional salvager. Large trees and shrubs need to be removed by
professionals as they require special salvaging techniques and equipment.
|
 | As a Corporate or Partnership sponsor, your plants may be cared for at the Center.
The Plant Sciences Center staff will care for your salvaged plants during construction.
Upon completion of your project, the staff can assist with reintroduction of the plants
into your landscape plan.
|
 | Contact the Plant Sciences Center for free salvage information. At no charge, the staff can visit your site, help you assess the salvage potential of
plants, teach you how to salvage, consult with you on the on-site care of salvaged plants
and assist with the reintroduction of plants into your landscape.
|
 | Donate your salvaged plants. You may donate your salvaged plants to the Plant
Sciences Center. The Center uses salvaged plants for propagation, education, study and
research, and revegetation into local and regional public landscapes.
