Public comment process for Bollgard II

Monsanto’s petition to the Animal and Plant Health Inspection Service (APHIS) of USDA for non-regulated status for Bollgard II cotton has been published in the Federal Register. (http://www.epa.gov/EPA-IMPACT/2002/March/Day-18/i6458.htm)Now the agency is soliciting public comments on whether Bollgard II presents a plant pest risk.

Comments must be postmarked , delivered or e-mailed by May 17, 2002.

Comments can be submitted by postal mail or by e-mail.

If using postal mail: Submit four copies of your comments (1 original and 3 copies).

Mail them to:

Be sure to state that your comments refer to Docket No. 01-025-1.

Comments can be as short or long as you like. What you say obviously is up to you, but the agency is likely to be interested in such things as Bollgard II’s relationship to insect resistance management, pest control, changes in insecticide sprays and whether Bollgard II is an improvement on already-proven technology.
