Areawide Insect Trapping Network (January 6, 2016)
Results of pheromone and sticky trap catches can be viewed here.

Corn earworm: Corn earworm moth activity has dropped significantly throughout the area, and at about the same level of activity as we observed this time last year.

Beet armyworm: Captures of beet armyworm moths were low in December compared to last year.

Cabbage looper: Cabbage looper moths were active in December; but at lower numbers captured compared to this time last season.

Whitefly: Adult movement has been negligible during December and counts on most traps are at seasonal lows. We should continue to observe this trend during the cooler moths of Jan and Feb.

Thrips: Thrips movement was low in all areas, and lower than what we observed last year.

Leafminers: Numbers on traps are very low across all trap locations.

Aphids: Alate (winged) aphids continued to show up on traps during December in the Yuma Valley, particularly in areas near the river. Counts in all other locations are down.
