Creating Selectors using Page Properties, 11:29 minutes. This shows creating your first selectors (rules) for a document, using the Page Properties window in Dreamweaver. This is the way you can assign different traits to the four types of links and use or turn off underlining on some of the link types.

Using the Randomtext Script on the CALS Server, 11:45 minutes. A programmer in the Networking Lab wrote a script that lets you create a datafile of text, images, or text and images which changes part of a web page each time the page is reloaded. This script is shown in this video. It only works if files are on the CALS server.

Dealing with Missing Web Pages, 6.5 minutes. As you start to delete older web pages or folders or change the filenames for previous files, you need to set up a page that displays to site visitors if they try to find a page which no longer exists.

More videos about using FormHandler. Information from HTML web forms on the College server are normally proccessed using FormHandler. These new videos describe creating an email template, creating a data template and log file, referencing the files needed by FormHandler, importing data from a datafile into Excel, and steps needed if you do not require email on your form.

Working with style sheet rules. There are fourteen videos linked from this page, all dealing with creating and using style sheet rules. Videos range from an overview introduction to CSS, creating rules using the Properties Panel in Dreamweaver, creating 2- and 3-column layouts using rules, and creating a print style sheet.

Converting older web pages. A series of videos illustrating steps one might need to follow to convert older web pages using embedded font codes and a table layout to pages using style sheet rules and layout using style sheet rules. Includes video on making a template for a site.

Setting up a Google search. This video shows the steps to set up a Google search for your own site or for favorites sites you want to search as a group. It includes information about how to add a code to the head area of a web page to stop crawlers, like Google, from searching that particular page. The video runs 23 minutes.

Using Dreamweaver 8 to Put a Video on a Web Page. This video shows the two steps needed to convert a digitized videoclip (in this case a Windows Media file) to a Flash video and then how to link the Flash video on a Dreamweaver web page. Other issues to keep in mind are also discussed. This video runs 27 minutes and should be viewed on a monitor set at 1280 x 1024 pixels to avoid having to use the scroll bars to view the entire video.

UA Library hardware/software guides, No hands-on classes are given by the Library, but they have posted various handouts on hardware and software topics, such as using Adobe 7 to scan and create PDF files, CD burning, registering your laptop, and basics in using Excel, Word and Powerpoint. These handouts are PDF files.
OSCR sponsored hands-on workshops and demonstrations , free for UA persons
University-purchased online tutorials (CBT website) on a variety of topics, including Word, Powerpoint, ColdFusion, FrontPage, Flash, Fireworks, Photoshop, Dreamweaver. Must have a University NetID to use these materials, and Quicktime installed on your computer.
Computer classes given by Office of Continuing Education and Academic Outreach, covering a range of software applications; there is a charge for all classes.
Other self-paced and electronic materials
Hewlett Packard sponsored classes, limited in scope but free. You have to register on their site to take a class
International Webmasters Association, classes can be taken by members and non-members but members have a reduced fee. Most classes besides having a fee require the purchase of a book.
Video and books through Lynda.com. Although originally focused on graphic applications, this site now covers a large range of software and applications. Much of this site's materials are video tutorials that can be purchased on CD/DVD or viewed online through a digital subscription. Sample materials are available online.
