| Important!
- In order for your laptop to be displayed through the projector, you MUST
follow the order of the instructions below. Mac Laptops/Powerbooks need to be connected to a projector which is ON BEFORE the laptop/Powerbook is turned on. |
|
| Step 1: Locate the VGA cable. This cable connects the projector to your laptop. |

| Step 2: Attach the VGA cable to either COMPUTER 1 or COMPUTER 2 on the projector and secure with thumbscrews. Do not over tighten! |

| Step 3: Attach the VGA cable to the monitor port on the back of the laptop. This port is usually colored blue. Again, do not over tighten! |

| Step 4: Push the Main Power Switch on the REAR of the Proxima to the ON position. | ![]() |
| Step 5: Depress the yellow Power button on TOP of the Proxima. This button turns the lamp on and off. | ![]() |
| Step 6: Wait approximately 30 seconds for the Proxima’s countdown to complete. Upon completion, the unit will be warmed up and ready to go. | ![]() |
| Step 7: Adjust the Proxima’s focus by using the FOCUS buttons located on the TOP of the projector. | ![]() |
| Step 8: Adjust the size of the projected image by using the ZOOM buttons located on the TOP of the projector. | ![]() |
| Step 9: Use the Proxima’s COMPUTER button to switch it’s input to COMPUTER 1 or COMPUTER 2 (depending on which one you plugged the VGA cable to). | ![]() |
| Step 10: Power on the laptop. Normally, if you have followed this sequence (projector on and connected first, THEN the laptop turned on), you should begin to see your computer display being projected. | ![]() |
| Step
11: If the laptop screen is not being displayed check
the settings on the Mac. Reset the LCD resolution. Open the monitors control
panel by clicking on the Apple icon in the top left corner, scroll down
to Control Panel, and go to Monitors. Set the resolution to 1024x768 75Hz.
If you can't see 1024x768 75Hz in the list, try clicking the "recommended" pull-down and changing it to "all" instead. Check for a possible resolution on the list which has Simulscan next to it. This will send the signal to both the laptop monitor and the projector. If you don't see the Arrange button among the list of icons in the Monitors window, your computer has not recognized the projector --- RESTART THE COMPUTER. |
see screen capture |
| Step 12: If your desktop is being displayed but you can't see your icons find the monitor resolution window in the control panel under the Apple menu. The LCD and computer monitor have their own control panels with separate resolutions. To select one or the other for a change you have to open the monitors control panel, click on "Arrange" and drag one of the monitor icons off of the other (unless they are already separated). Once you have done this the LCD and computer monitor will be displaying different images. Next, move the mouse over to the alternate desktop and monitors control panel displayed by the LCD projector, choose 1024x768 75Hz and wait for the LCD to recover. After the LCD has recovered, you may drag one monitor image onto the other in the "arrange" dialog to synchronize the computer and LCD images. You should then see your desktop icons being displayed through the projector. | see screen capture |
| Step 12: To turn off the Proxima, push the yellow POWER button located on the TOP of the projector. You will be presented with a “POWER OFF?” confirmation on the screen. Press the button again to shut off the lamp. Note: If you turn off the lamp, you will not be able to turn it back on for 1-2 minutes. | ![]() |
| Step 14: Wait 3-5 minutes for the lamp to cool. The projectors fan will shut off after it is sufficiently cooled. Once this has occurred, turn the main POWER switch, located on the REAR of the Proxima, to the OFF position. | ![]() |
