ECAT can provide limited assistance to CALS for many web support areas listed below. If you or your department/program has a need for help in creating a website, making changes to a site, or putting material online at your existing website, you may contact us for a consultation on what services we are able to provide to you. Categories of assistance are listed below, along with some examples of what service we may be able to provide. More extensive projects might require funding from your department/unit.
- Class or Workshop Web Sites
- Putting syllabus and class materials up on the web at the beginning of a semester; putting up documents about a special workshop you are giving; periodically making changes or additions to your existing class site
- Forms
- Putting up a simple feedback form; adapting a form created in Dreamweaver so you can get email responses back, or have the results put into a text file
- Technical Help
- Creating a directory for a website; changing permissions on a directory; FTP assistance; password protecting a folder on a website
- Adding a password to a folder
- Adding a logon and password to a particular folder on the CALS server. This is often done for part of a class website.
- Database Applications
- Set up a conference registration for and have attendees pay via the web; create a system so that data can be entered on-line and emailed automatically; set up an advisor scheduling program through the web.
